Why "Ascent"?

Psalm 24:3-5 says, “Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god. They will receive blessing from the LORD and vindication from God their Savior. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, God of Jacob.”

The Kingdom of Heaven is not just a destination, it’s a journey, and we walk it out everyday. He’s not calling this generation to just sit still and get comfortable - He’s calling us to climb up, get higher and discover levels of His character that we haven’t known before. We want to equip people to make the climb, to ascend the mountain of God.

Our Values

because Truth revealed is just the beginning

1 Corinthians 14:1 tells us to "pursue love and eagerly desire all the gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy". When you plant seeds, you get fruit. When we desire all the gifts of the Spirit, we expect to see the fruit of miracles, healing, wisdom, tongues, and especially prophecy. Word and Spirit is foundational to who we are. It creates the base that supports everything we do.

because we are sons and daughters called to the family business

In the ancient world, something wasn't considered created just because it existed. It needed to have purpose. God created us out of His great love, as the object of His affection, to live in relationship with Him. Our creation is made complete with the addition of a purpose—our responsibility—to represent Him to the world, reflecting His glory and pointing people back to relationship with Him.

because the fullness of life is revealed when dancing on the straight and narrow

Through the cross, we've received an incredible inheritance. It's the freedom from (sin, death, etc) and the freedom to (step into new life, abundance, etc). We come from nothing, but have been given everything. And honestly, we have no idea what everything means for us. We have a choice: to steward it and really be free, or to squander it and remain in bondage.

because we are one body with many parts

How incredible are our hands? Just think of all that they can do. But what if the hand wasn't connected to the wrist, arm, shoulder, and ultimately...the head? At Bridgeway, we celebrate our individual giftings, talents, and the unique way God created each of us. But we don't do so without also acknowledging the beauty of when God's creation unites together to form one body, accomplishing more than we ever could alone. We are created unique, but we are not independent.

because good news is for everywhere...always

The early church overtook Rome in about 258 years, and they did it by getting into the homes. When our lives stop running parallel to our faith and start being the expression of our faith we will see widespread impact on the culture surrounding us.
